🏃♂️ It’s too easy to get into the crazy work work work routine, especially if there’s a lot you wish to achieve. But I’ve found that this will only result in real burnout, which can have extremely devastating health effects both mentally and physically.
▶️ Here are my top reasons why taking a break, whether that’s even a day off, ensuring you switch off during evenings/weekends, or taking a longer holiday, is so essential:
Let the mind focus on other things
It’s good for the mind to think about other things rather than being singular. Switching contexts (without negative context switching) allows for creativity and better problem solving.
Mental refresh
Similar to the above, the mind genuinely requires a break and it’s good to come back recharged with a fresh mind raring to go.
Physical refresh
Especially important if your role is physically taxing or you get less sleep. Physical rejuvenation is a must.
Partake in hobbies
It’s a great opportunity to do other things that you love, whatever that may be.
Connect with people
Also a great opportunity to connect with family and friends who you may otherwise not have enough time to meet with.
▶️ So in short, be sure to take those breaks!
